Wiggio
Wiggio is a popular online collaboration tool that allows users to share important dates, to-do lists (with deliverable dates), files (while preserving previous versions), messages and discussions, hold online meetings and polls.
Wiggio also has the advantage of allowing a user to reply to a post (event, comment, etc.) directly by e-mail rather than having to log back in.
Wiggio is one of the most reputed collaboration tools available and has been tailored to both work and academic environments.
It allows teammates to easily keep discussions grouped by topic (with the entire MBA cohort, their class or their team), set calendar reminders, to-do lists for group projects, share documents and more. Wiggio users need not necessarily use all of the features offered. For instance, you may still share files over Dropbox but use Wiggio’s other features.
The biggest advantage, though, is that Wiggio unites the entire full time MBA cohort and groups them into the relevant subgroups, making large- or small-scale communications much easier.
Your invitation e-mail should look like this:
- Click here to join the group.
- These options will allow you to adjust your e-mail notification settings. You may change those from within Wiggio.
Next, you will be taken to your main Wiggio feed (similar to a Facebook News Feed).
- User Preferences: clicking on the arrow will make the following menu appear:

- Edit Profile: this option allows you to change your personal settings:

- In the left hand column, you can change your name, email address and various other basic settings.
- In the right hand column, you can add your mobile phone number (optional: for notifications and SMS messages) and change the confidentiality of your email address and phone number (e.g. colleagues could still message you via Wiggio, but will not be able to see your contact info).
- Walk-Throughs: this gives you access to the various video tutorials offered by Wiggio.
- Groups: this allows you to select the group in which you are working.
** Important! You must select the “HEC MBA 2012” group to be able to view subgroups (classes, teams). **
After having clicked on “HEC MBA 2012”, the News Feed should include only posts from within that particular group (which changes nothing if you are only a member of one group) and the left sidebar should resemble the image below:

- The Manage Profile link below the “HEC Montréal” logo allows you to change group-related options; the most important of which is your Email Preference.

- When you are in your Feed (your default Wiggio page, whether you are in the “HEC MBA 2012” group or not), you will see these action buttons. They will be covered more in depth later in the tutorial.
- These are links to your Calendar and Shared File Folder. They will also be covered more in depth later on.
- Alerts inform you of any pending events or action on your part.
From within your Group Feed (where you have selected the “HEC MBA 2012” group, allowing you to view subgroups), click on Comment:
- Click on Comment.
- Enter a Subject (optional) and the message contents.
- Because Wiggio selects the entire “HEC MBA 2012” group by default, you must first toggle the Select All box to deselect everyone, then expand the Show Subgroups menu to select the subgroup(s) to which you would like to send the message (as shown in the image below):

- Clicking the Add menu allows you to attach a file, calendar event, to-do list or other item to your message thread.
The new comment will appear in recipients’ Feeds.
If a to-do list, calendar entry or other time-sensitive item has been added, it will appear in their Calendar.
If a file has been added, it will appear in their Folder.
Users may directly reply to Comments via e-mail. They do not necessarily need to log into Wiggio.
The process is nearly identical to posting Comments.
Files
Here, you have the choice of whether to share an existing file, create a new file or share a link.

Regardless of the choice, the shared document/link will appear in all recipients’ Folder section.
Event
This could be used to share class and exam schedules with a group.

All Events shared will appear in recipients’ Calendar section.
To-Do List
This allows users to share To-Do Lists related to projects or group reports with multiple intermediate deadlines (e.g. topic submission, meetings, delivery date).

Each Task may be assigned a Due Date.
Just as for Events, To-Do List Tasks appear on affected users’ Calendars if they are given a Due Date.
Calendar
The links in the right sidebar of the Feed (under “Applications”) to the Calendar and Folder allow the user to see all Calendar Events (e.g. events, to-do items, meetings) and Shared Items (e.g. files, links) shared with him/her.
- This link allows you to return to your main Feed page.
- This allows you to view your calendar items in a list-type Agenda view.
- This menu gives you access to the various Calendar options (view, import, export).
- Export this Calendar: allows you to export your Wiggio calendar events to your Outlook, iCal or Google Calendar.
- Import a Calendar: this item allows you to import saved calendars into your Wiggio calendar.
Note: Wiggio only allows you to share imported items with the entire group. They are working on allowing imported calendars the ability to only be shared with certain subgroups.
Folder
This section allows you to access all files and links that you have shared or that have been shared with you.
- Create Folder | Move Items: this allows you to organize your files/links in folders and subfolders (e.g. by course, by project, etc.).
